How to Prepare a PDF Before You Print (Margins, Size, Quality)
Practical PDF tips for page size, margins, orientation, and print quality before you generate a Print Code.
Why PDF formatting matters before you print
A Print Code delivers whatever you selected. If the PDF has tiny margins, mixed page sizes, or low-resolution images, the printout will show those problems. A few minutes of formatting saves reprints, ink, and time at the counter.
1. Match page size to the paper you will use
In India and many regions, A4 is the default shop paper. If your document is Letter size, ask the shop which paper they stock — or export/save as A4 before generating a Print Code. Mismatched sizes cause unexpected scaling and cut-off edges.
2. Keep safe margins
Leave at least 0.5 inch (about 12–15 mm) from the edges for text and important graphics. Printers often cannot print to the extreme edge, and shop cutters may trim slightly.
3. Prefer vector text over screenshots of text
Whenever possible, export real text from your document editor or design tool to PDF. Screenshots of paragraphs look soft and can waste toner. For forms and IDs, use the clearest scan you have.
4. Check orientation page by page
Mixed portrait and landscape pages are fine if intentional. Preview before printing so the operator does not rotate the wrong pages or print landscape content on portrait settings.
5. Set color vs black & white deliberately
